Constructed in 1890, Laxmi Vilas Palace was designed by British architect Major Charles Mant and later completed by R.F. Chisholm. Sprawling across more than 500 acres, it is reputed to be four times the size of Buckingham Palace, making it one of the largest private residences in the world.

The palace cost over ₹1.8 crore at the time - an astronomical sum in the 19th century - and every corner reflects that lavish investment. From stained glass windows and Venetian mosaics to fine marble and intricately carved woodwork, the interiors redefine royal luxury.

Architectural Marvel

The Laxmi Vilas Palace is a fine example of the Indo-Saracenic Revival style - a harmonious fusion of Hindu, Gothic, and Mughal architectural elements.
