According to legend:

After their marriage, Krishna and Rukmini visited the sage Durvasa. On the way, Rukmini felt thirsty and asked Krishna for water. Krishna struck the ground with his toe, and the Ganga river appeared. Rukmini drank without offering water to Durvasa, which angered the sage. He cursed her to live separately from Krishna - this is why Rukmini Temple is located far from Dwarkadhish Temple, despite being his consort. This myth explains the separation of the temples and adds emotional depth to your visit.
